Our Vision
At Root and Rise, we believe that nature holds the capacity to reconnect people with their inherent worth and wholeness. In a world increasingly disconnected, from the earth, from embodiment, from one another, we see healing as a return to what is already within us. Our vision is not just to bring people outdoors, but to guide them home to themselves through the rhythms of the wild. We aim to create a culture where all people, especially those excluded by systems of oppression, have access to the grounding, wisdom, and renewal found in the natural world. Our long-term vision includes land stewardship, community-centered wellness spaces, and a more just ecosystem of care that integrates clinical, somatic, and spiritual paths to healing.
Our Mission
We are a nonprofit wilderness therapy and holistic wellness organization rooted in Colorado. Our mission is to create trauma-informed, nature-based therapeutic experiences that are grounded in clinical excellence, somatic wisdom, and inclusive, anti-oppressive care. We serve adults navigating trauma, addiction, mental health challenges, and systemic disconnection—especially those who are low-income, frontline workers, LGBTQ+, or BIPOC. By combining integrative health coaching, ecotherapy, group retreats, and mindfulness-based healing, we support clients in building sustainable well-being from the inside out. We are committed to working at the pace of trust, honoring client autonomy, and helping people feel seen, empowered, and whole.
Why
“Sylvan Somatic”?
Because healing is both wild and embodied.
Rooted in the earth. Felt in the body.
Our name reflects the natural rhythm of healing: a return to ground, to self, and to wholeness — followed by movement, expression, and change. We believe that reconnection to the earth and to our bodies is not only therapeutic, but revolutionary.
What Makes Us Different
-
We don’t just do therapy in nature. We engage with the land as a teacher, mirror, and co-facilitator in healing.
-
We honor both body and mind. Our services blend clinical therapy, health coaching, and mindfulness-based movement.
-
We work to reduce cost barriers through Medicaid billing, grants, and community support — with the goal of making all services free or sliding-scale.
-
Our programming is shaped by lived experience, cultural humility, and a commitment to dismantling systemic barriers to care.
-
We’re proudly based in the Arkansas River Valley, with deep ties to the Salida community. But the issues we address — disconnection, burnout, trauma — are everywhere. Our work is both local and visionary.
